Manchester's presence at Mipim this year was hard to miss. The @mcrMipim were the most active tweeps of the whole show (if you discount Mipim itself).
But there was another tweep gaining just as much attention back home. The Not at Mipim Manchester lot did more than their fair share last night. Organised solely through Twitter (and later email), more than 140 local property bods piled into The Mark Addy on the Salford/Manchester border for the Not at Mipim Manchester party.
Traditional English canapes including mini black pudding potato cake and spiced Scottish salmon served on toast were all washed down with lashings of ale, each one individually branded by the sponsors.
Bourne out of austerity, the event paralleled the popular Ear to the Ground's Manchester Hang the DJ party out in Cannes.
And for those of you still not sure if social media and Twitter really "works", the event was bourne out of a regular tweet-up of a dozen regional media types. With a ten day lead-in time the story went viral and over 140 people eventually crammed into the venue.
