Despite quarter two's gloomy figures it seems some are still in expansion mode.
Strutt & Parker has agreed terms to take 4,500 sq ft of space in Cambridge city centre. The long mooted requirement has settled at 66-68 Hills Road and the agency says it will be cutting the ribbon in early 2013. More interestingly they'll be opening a multi disciplinary service including rural, residential, planning, development and commercial.
This last bit of information will surprise the local market. It hadn't been expecting them to open a commercial offering and the announcement today will have surprised quite a few Cambridge agents. Agents seemed to think that S&P would probably offer some sort of commercial operation but one that would largely be run out of Ipswich and London, with a view to growing a commercial presence, growing the order book and making a bigger splash further down the line.
The big question is if they'll actually have a commercial agent based in the office - and who that is. Strutt & Parker say that, as the office is still seven months away, not all the details have been confirmed. But, keep dropping back here, and this post will be updated as we hear more.
