If I had a penny for everytime someone had said the property industry was a people industry, well, I wouldn't be sat here typing. But now someone's gone and scientifically proven that bricks and mortar has some of the best colleagues of any UK business sector and commercial agencies are among the top places to work.
According to TheJobCrowd.com - an anonymous career review site - property is one of the UK's best industries to work in. The site asked 3,000 graduates in their first three years of employment to score their company on a range of criteria including responsibility, progression opportunities, colleague interaction, training, work-life balance and benefits.
The property industry scored highly when it came to colleague interaction and also saw strong results for company culture, progression opportunities and overall enjoyment of the role.
Number one on the list of property places to work was Barratt Developments with BAM Construct coming second. But the agents also featured strongly with BNP Paribas Real Estate, Savills Commercial, and GVA also making the list (see the picture below).
Keren Mitchell, co-founder of TheJobCrowd.com, says: "I think it's fair to say when you ask people which industries are the most fun to work in property doesn't typically top the list, however our findings go totally against that."
