EG awards: The best of the East of England rewarded at reception

photo(8).JPGThe first of EG’s regional awards were handed out on Friday at our annual East of England reception at the River Bar Kitchen in Cambridge.

The regional awards are being decided a bit differently this year. It was smiles all round as Brookgate (pictured right) won the region’s  Property Company of the Year. The developer has had an amazing year and was applauded for landing two prelets in Microsoft and Mott McDonald at its CB1 development by the station. Microsoft are just about to be handed its building – the first in Cambridge city centre for two decades.

Property adviser of the year went to Savills  who beat off tough competition from Barker Storey Matthews (who came second) and Bidwells in third place.

The mood in the room was one of wary optimism. Led by Cambridge, the region has bucked the national trend and had a good 2012. However, there was a feeling, even though it was the opening days of 2013 that deals would be hard won, and, outside of Cambridge, the market was very quiet.
