My first job as a commercial property journalist couldn't have come at a more interesting time.
I joined the Estates Gazette as editorial assistant in August 2008 in the midst of what is now thought to be a record breaking recession, and covering it as the newest member of the Focus team, is proving an interesting challenge.
When I joined EG I was asked if I enjoy travelling. Thankfully I do because I've travelled the country far and wide and covered markets from Edinburgh to Exeter and Belfast to Bognor Regis, navigating the various issues that currently face the property community.
In my short time on the desk I've learnt a lot about the workings of the commercial market and in particular, I've found the rise and fall of the Celtic Tiger most interesting. There are still a number of markets I've yet to cover and look forward to paying a visit to them in the not so distant future.
