About Nadia
I never intended to end up in property, or journalism for that matter (who really does), but somehow I've ended up doing both. I'm now the deputy Focus editor for Estates Gazette although I've been a writer and a broadcast journalist for EGTV in my time with the group.
The idea was to become a scientist and it all started well with a degree in chemistry and a PhD working in part for pharmaceutical company GSK. Then, somehow, while doing my PhD I got seduced into the world of journalism.
Property came much later via the world of chemical business publishing.
Yet despite being at EG now for nine years and journalism for nearly 15 years I still haven't been able to shake the Dr/science spod tag and it's probably one of the reasons why I've ended with East of England - with it's Silicon Fen - as one of my patches (the others are South Wales and Yorkshire).
If you want to get in touch with me about any of the above then please email me at nadia.elghamry@rbi.co.uk
Things you might not know about me.
- I grew up in the Middle East and remember Dubai when it was still a desert road with the only ice rink in the United Arab Emirates which did the best cola floats (I was 8 at the time)
- I was nearly run over (on purpose) by a very angry developer in a very big Mercedes whilst out filming in Yorkshire
- I knit, bead, paint, bake, cook, make jam, and generally do anything that involves getting my fingers messy (yes I have a secret desire to be part of the WI but have a sneaking suspicion that they won't take me)
- I want a puppy but have settled for a goldfish
