Lambert Smith Hampton has topped the EGi Deals Database league table for 2009. The table is the culmination of a years work from EGi researchers tracking completed deals across the UK. CB Richard Ellis were crowned winners in the Retail & Leisure category.

The top five National winners were:

1. Lambert Smith Hampton
2. CB Richard Ellis

4 Savills
5. King Sturge

Bristol Focus reception

Development was the hot topic among Bristol, Swindon and Bath's property fraternity at our annual reception in Bristol on Friday. Developers were out in force among the 60 or so guests and keen to talk about starting on projects in the area.

HDG Mansur's Chris Read was as bullish as ever about its Finzels Reach scheme in Bristol and has promised a site tour so I can see the work that is going on (keep an eye on this blog for a full report). And Muse was equally bullish about its Union Square project in Swindon although wouldn't be tied down on an actual start date.

EG's editor Damian Wild announced the winners of the EGi Deal's Database competition: Alder King and King Sturge and after all that excitement is was time for a bite to eat and a catch up on the rest of the market gossip.

A selection of pictures from the event are below, more will be added as they become available and the synopsis for the Bristol, Swindon and Bath Focus is available here

Summer seems to have given Bristol's property professionals a sunnier outlook on the market.

In this weeks issue I look at how market sentiment has changed since our last survey at the beginning of the year and there was definitely some cautious optimism breaking through the clouds.

This time around, most people felt the worst of the economic jolts were over. There are still concerns though particularly around rental prospects and development. But one developer is being defiant and to find out which, have a read of my piece.

It's bittersweet days in Swindon's market. On the one hand it has seen its largest office letting of the year but the town centre regeneration is still lagging behind.

Regeneration body New Swindon Company will be hoping that every cloud really does have a silver lining as it picks up the pieces of the proposed Regent Place retail scheme, following the collapse of its developer Modus Ventures. Daniel Cunningham asks what next for the scheme.

3297935915_66c3533c67.jpg"Go west young man, break bread in the new land" sang Ian Astbury of The Cult when I was a teen. Well Focus will be sort of doing just that in the coming weeks as Daniel and Melanie gather information for their Bristol, Bath and Swindon Focus features. OK, I know that was a cheesy link but I can't get that song ot of my head at the moment and Bristol, Bath & Swindon are west of EG HQ.

Melanie will be looking at the market basics analysing how each town and sector is performing during the recession. She'll also be analysing the results of our second Bristol sentiment survey to guage whether property professionals in the city are feeling any less negative than they were at the start of the year.

Daniel, meanwhile, is looking at key regeneration projects and how the public and private sector are keeping the ball rolling during these cash-strapped times.
