Congratulations to Wrenbridge and Savills, winners of the Estates Gazette South East Property Company and Adviser of the Year awards respectively, writes EG's Damian Wild.

Presented with their awards in the glamorous surrounds of Wentworth golf club in Surrey, Wrenbridge's Jeff Wilson and James Gray and Savills' Paul Atherton and Ed James were all justifiably delighted.

Thankfully, after-dinner speaker, golfer Bernard Gallacher eschewed fatuous links between sport and business

Nevertheless the former Ryder Cup player and captain's tales of on-course behaviour - of both the sporting and unsporting kind - has clear application for corporate life. Only the former exists in property, of course.

Sparkling night for RICS and EG winners at Yorkshire awards

Around Ireland with a fridge comedian Tony Hawks popped up at another RICS regional awards on Friday, this time in Yorkshire (yes he did the being mistaken for Tony Hawk the skateboarder joke, again).

Bedecked with sparkling lights, the Centenary Pavilion on Eland Road in Leeds saw around 250 of the county's property professionals gather to see who had won the RICS Pro Yorkshire awards - the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield had a very good night - and we handed out our own Yorkshire & North East adviser and property company of the year awards.

Picking up the adviser award for the 8th year running was Sanderson Weatherall. No Tim 'Bananaman' Caterall this year but David Rastrick and Richard Dunn were on hand to celebrate in the usual exuberant Sanderson style. Raising not just a (pint) glass or two (see pic right)

Henry Boot Developments lifted the property company award. Speaking afterwards Vivienne Clemants said how surprised they were to win as the company normally keeps a low profile.

With the awards dispensed it was time to hit bar and with only our West Midlands awards left to present EG's regional awards are nearly over for another year.

Congratulations to Sanderson Weatherall and Henry Boot and all our other winners.

A few unofficial official snaps can be seen in the slide show below, and we'll add in the official photos as they arrive.

Nautical theme as EG hands out London awards at RICS dinner

All things nautical and nostalgic last night at the RICS London awards last night, as some 250 guests took over the top floor of the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich writes EG's Jo Bourke.

Agents and architects tucked into a meal of duck with potato spring rolls and miso (I had to google the latter - a fermented soy bean paste for those interested), while being surrounded by lots of historical artefacts and trinkets.

RICS UK director Luay Al-Khatib opened the awards with a Winston Churchill quote: "We shape our buildings and thereafter they shape us."

The sentiment was echoed around the room as agents were heard discussing just what will happen post Olympics.

EG had the pleasure of handing out its own

London awards: London property company of the year went to Land Securities, and London property adviser of the year went EA Shaw.

Unfortunately our pictures taken on mobile phones after several vinos were not great, but perhaps if you squint your eyes, you may make out Colette O'Shea of Land Sec and below Charlie Killen and Lisa Holland of EA Shaw both with yours truly.

As soon as the official pics are out of the developing room we'll add them to the post.

Well done to all the winners.

A sumptous spread, a glittering venue and a stalker. That's what guests at the RICS East of England awards were treated to last night.

Under the twinkling 'night sky' at Chilford Hall in Linton, Savills continued its running streak securing EG's property adviser of the year in the region. Wrenbridge were crowned EG East of England prpoerty company of the year.

Savill's Rob Sadler took quite a shine to compere BBC Look East's Janine Machin. Obviously incredibly proud of his EG gong Rob ran ran up to her not once, but twice, to ask for a photo of the two of them with his award. Quite what Janine thought of our Sadler The Savills Stalker, we don't know but she acted with good grace and smiled through it all. The mask slipped just once during the photo session - you tell me what Janine is thinking in the picture below.

Rain fails to dampen mood at EG and RICS Scotland awards

| No TrackBacks

Scotland's property fraternity braved the wind and driving rain yesterday to attend the RICS' 2012 awards at the organisation's HQ in Edinburgh, writes Lisa Pilkington.

The Manor Place offices were host to the event which also saw the Estates Gazette hand out its Scotland awards by yours truly. Once again (as in many other cities around the UK) Savills secured EG's property adviser of the year. While Miller Developments was crowned EG Scotland property company of the year. Savills' Keith Dobson and Miller's Phil Miller were on hand to take delivery of the gleaming glass trophies.

Meanwhile, the Centre for the Scottish War Blinded was announced as the overall winner for the awards, as well as picking up the award for best design and innovation category.

Congratulations to all.

Savills and MAG Developments were the toast of Manchester last night as they emerged victorious to accept EG's North West awards for 2012.

The awards were presented at the RICS's North West Awards ceremony - a swanky balck tie affair held at The Point - the modern conference centre at Old Trafford cricket ground.

Savills' James Evans, Alex Palfreyman and Richard Lowe were on hand to accept the North West Property Advisor of the Year

award (above right), while it's fair to say that MAG Developments mounted something of a stage invasion (pictured right) as the firm was named North West Property Company of the Year.

A group of staff from the developer - which is the property arm of Manchester Airports Group and is behind the planned Airport City scheme in Manchester - proudly crowded the stage to collect the award. "It's a team effort", chief executive John Atkins said as he accepted it.

Comedian and broadcaster Tony Hawks was the night's compere, joking with the audience that anyone with teenage children had probably led them to expect US skateboard supremo Tony Hawk.

Wales & South West

p824003124-3.jpgSavills and Stoford were crowned Wales and South West's property finest at the EG regional awards yesterday. At a sumptuous lunch at Cardiff's Parc Hotel for RICS Wales awards, the pair picked up gongs for property adviser and property company of the year Wales and South West.

The award is the second year running that Savills (pictured bottom left) has been crowned regional champion and echoes two other regional wins from the agent last night

with Savills picking up EG gongs in the  North West and South East.

For Stoford (pictured top right) the prize is quite an accolade. The West Midlands-based developer was, up until last year, a relatively unknown name on the Wales and South West scene. Director Dominic Stokes said he was "delighted" to have won the votes of so many readers. Stokes added that with the firm's home markets going quiet, Wales and the South West "are where we see our growth."

Over 6,000 readers voted in the regional awards. EG's national awards will take place at the London Hilton on Park Lane in December. Click here for more details.

EG's Regional Awards: Have you voted?

| No TrackBacks
5760931937_81b575cff8_m.jpgThe advisers have submitted their entries, the companies have been selected and the shortlists for this year's EG Regional Awards are ready.

Now it is over to you. The winners will be decided by your votes but if your company has made it onto the list, don't be tempted to vote for yourself - it'll be discounted. Instead rally your clients and get them to vote for you.

Winners will be announced on April 14 and will be invited to attend an RICS event in their area to receive their award. We'll be covering the awards ceremonies in the magazine and there will also be profiles of the winning adviser and company for each region in the appropriate regional Focus later in the year. But you decide, so get voting - you have until April 5.

Call for entries: EG's Regional Awards

| No TrackBacks
_DSC2160.jpgIt's time to reward the regions best property advisers and companies again. Like last year we are asking advisers to submit an entry in order to go forward to the voting stage of the awards. If you think your firm deserves some recognition then you can find out details of how to enter here.

The list of eligible developers will be drawn up by EG's editorial team but feel free to get in touch if you feel you have a strong case to go forward to the voting stage.

As well as a nice piece of glassware to show off in the office, and awards coverage in the magazine and online, all winners will be featured in the appropriate regional Focus. But you've got to be in it to win it, so get entering.

Good luck!
