It was a packed house last Friday as guests gathered at the swish Corinthian Club in Glasgow's Merchant City, writes Lisa Pilkington.

Around 100 people came along to have drinks, canapés and swap gossip at the annual EG Focus Glasgow reception. Ryden swept the board winning three separate prizes - including most active local agent. Ryden's Ewan Cameron also picked up a very eye-catching limited edition bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne in the business card draw.

An air of cautious optimism was pervading the room as talk turned to Q4 and what it may bring. With a number of new investment opportunities hitting the market this week including the sale of BP's Aberdeen HQ and Glasgow's 100 Bothwell Street, there may be a few more corks popping before Christmas.

Catch up on all the action in the pictures below.

Pics: EG's Southampton Focus reception

Early last week I was told that the sun always shines in Southampton. "We'll see" was my reply. But it must be true because it was glorious weather for our annual reception at the Royal Southampton Yacht Club on Friday with guests (and EG) making the most of the terrace.

More than 50 of the areas property professionals turned up for a cool drink and a bite to eat and any gloom about the market was left back at the office. There were big smiles all round among Lambert Smith Hampton's team as they picked up the EGi most active agents award and the EGi Dealmaker accolade went to LSH's Robin Dickens.

EG sails into Southampton for annual reception

Thumbnail image for southampton pic.jpgSometimes work is a grind. Sometimes, just sometimes it looks like this.

The EG autumn reception season kicked off today and the view from the balcony of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club over the marina was quite something.

If you're looking for the EG boat then we decided to park it around the corner.

Check back here next week when we'll have pictures, a report and news from the event looking at how the local market is faring and what agents make of Cumberland Commercial's The Bond scheme launched this week (£). Will they find a prelet? won't they, hear what everyone has to say on the blog next week.

Pics: EG Leeds Focus reception

It was a tale of two guest types at the EG Leeds Focus reception. There were those who were feeling a little subdued the morning after a big night out and those who were ready and raring to start the weekend early (that'll be Tim Catterall and the Sanderson Weatherall team then).

Regardless, more than 70 people from across Yorkshire joined us at Aspire for a chat and to compare notes about the market. EG's Nadia Elghamry talked to Knight Frank's Alex Munro about development prospects in Leeds and you can hear what he had to say on a podcast

As usual we launched the synopsis for our main Yorkshire Focus of the year and you can find a list of topics covered and the writers contact details online.

The winner of the EGi deals competition was Carter Towler with Adam Peacock of Lambert Smith Hampton being crowned individual deal maker.

EG's Edinburgh Focus reception

| No TrackBacks

Well if it's good enough for Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess then it is good enough for EG Focus. Over 40 Edinburgh agents crammed into Tigerlilly on Friday for EG's annual Scotland reception, where apparently a scene from the film One Day was shot.

It was a good day for Ryden. The firm was named most active agents in the EGi deals competition and Iain Taylor was crowned most active deal maker.

The fate of the local office market was much discussed with the jury out on whether things were about to get much better or stagnate further. With supply thin on the ground and at least some occupiers looking for space some felt this would push up rents. Others felt that the Scottish capital was still feeling the pain from the banking crisis and talk of devolution could be the death knell for inward investors eyeing the city.

You can find the Edinburgh synopsis by clicking here and a slideshow of the pictures from the event will be available here shortly.

Pics: Hats and smashes at EG's Manchester reception

It was a smashing night at the Epernay Champagne bar in Manchester yesterday as more than 100 of the city's property professional's converged to catch up and network. Beer bottles and a wine glass went flying but fortunately it was down to clumsiness (maybe a little alcohol was involved, certainly in one case) rather than a ruckus.

Developers were out in force, Urban Splash's Tom Bloxham arrived in his signature hat (and didn't take it off all evening) joining Allied London's Mike Ingall, Argent's David Partridge and the Co-op's David Pringle.

If there was any glum feeling about the state of the lending market and the economy then it was buried in the bottom of the beer bottles and and wine glasses.

The winner of the EGi deals competition was announced with Roger Hannah and Co lifting the crown.

Our next Manchester Focus is published on March 31 and you can find more information about the topics we are covering as well as the writers contact details in a previous post.

Pics: Time for a drink at the Glasgow reception

The Focus reception tour bus rocked up in Glasgow on Friday for its final stop of 2011. Despite gloomy news about the economy, the worsening debt crisis in Europe and tough market conditions in Glasgow people were in a cheery mood. Perhaps it was the mild sunny weather and a cold beer or two.

Winners of the EGi deals competition were announced with Ryden taking most active local agent and Jones Lang LaSalle taking most active national agent.

Liverpool Focus reception report and pics

Yesterday the Focus team headed to Liverpool for the annual reception held once again at the Racquet Club. It was great arriving in the city to see Lime Street Station finally restored to its former glory with the tatty retail that blighted its frontage removed and the public realm work finished.

But it was even better to see so many of the city's property professionals out for a midweek lunchtime drink and some of the Racquet club's delicious chips.

There were three certificates to hand out as our EGi data team have created a new category for the person to whom the most deals can be attributed. Taking the inaugural award for Merseyside dealmaker with 52 deals to his name was Roy Backhouse of Roy Backhouse & Co.

The collective active agent awards went to CBRE and Sutton Kersh for the national and regional categories respectively.

Below you will find pics from the event and the synopsis for our Merseyside feature can be found by clicking here. EG's intrepid multimedia reporter Helen Roxburgh was on hand with the video camera to get reactions from the market about the Government's Enterprise Zone proposals. Keep an eye out on the blog later today to see what people had to say.

Leeds Focus reception - report and pics

| No TrackBacks
There were one or two sore heads among the 70 or so guests at our annual Leeds Focus reception on Friday. Apparently the success of the inaugral Unfold Leeds event the day before had spilled over into the evening... and beyond. Early hours and clubs that make a feature of brass poles were mentioned but naturally we were glad to assist with a medicinal hair of the dog.

Sore heads aside a combination of nice weather, end of the financial year and recent pay day made for a lively and packed lunch time gathering at the Living Room as agents and developers looked on the bright side of the tough market conditions.

There was good news for King Sturge and Carter Towler who took the EGi deals competition most active agents awards for National firm and Regional firm respectively.

Below you will find a selection of photo's from the event and you can view the synopses for our North and West Yorkshire Focus and South Yorkshire Focus by clicking on the links.
