Skyscraper critic appointed by new mayor

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Newly appointed Mayor Boris Johnson has appointed a critic of tall buildings in London as his planning advisor signalling a reverse of his predecessor's, Ken Livingstone, support for skyscrapers. Observers are saying that the decision to appoint Sir Simon Milton will make it more difficult for developers to win planning approval for this type of development. The move is notable as Milton has been an outspoken critic of the planning powers granted to the mayor during Ken Livingstone's reign, commented on by EGi London Offices previously.

Is it possible that this u-turn in approach to skyscraper development could lead to many speculative developments, yet to gain permission, being sent back to the drawing board?
