Battersea Power Station should be knocked down in order to boost economic growth in the capital, developers have told Reuters. With the possibility of recession looming, there is a building argument that the protected status of the disused station should be abandoned in favour of a more financially viable solution, with the possibility of creating 25,000 new jobs.

"It's an ugly site that developers would ideally want to knock down, as it will crumble in 10 years anyway," one FTSE 100 listed developer has said. It has been claimed that 8 of 10 developers interested in the site would demolish the landmark. See the full story from Reuters here.
