Gherkin gets make-over

If the bosses at London Zoo get their way, the Gherkin might be in for a dramatic redesign. In order to advertise the Zoo's Penguin Beach attraction, which is England's largest penguin pool and home to three different species of the flightless bird, they have commisioned an image of what the Gherkin would look like as a pengiun.

It is unclear whether the owners of the building or city planning officials are aware of the scheme, but if it did get the go ahead it would look something like this:

At EGi London Offices, the consensus seems to be - why stop there? How about the Heron Tower mocked up as a Heron, or One Canada Square - as a Canary!
