The diet of carbon fueled energy bars, gels and drinks taking its toll. Hampered even further by a strong head wind. Very little banter in the peleton. The experienced ones weren't wrong when they said today is the toughest. Scenery changing - lots of small rural villages - its like going back 50 years. Lots of dogs and horses going mad as we pass, and even the odd deer. Time for a quick snooze on the coach before we head back out again...

To Annabel, all C2C-ers and Twitterberries, inner thighs more anguished and outraged than a defender protesting innocence in the penalty box.... Despite the pain barrier, dread, terror, remorse, pity and wonder. I can't tell you, cycling as you descend into Chanas and the peloton unwinds in a kind of freefall gives the mind quite a ride! How long till that steak supper? More importantly, what’s on the menu for vegetarians? *rumble* *bubble* *creak* - remember to snack up! Heigh ho - to sleep. The morrow will bring weary thighs and much else besides…
