Olympic legacy minister out of the running

In all of the confusion last night and this morning there are few conclusions to be drawn yet about what the changing political scene might mean for the Olympic legacy.
One thing is certain though - Shahid Malik the Labour MP for Dewsbury, who as a Minister at the Department for Communities and Local Government has responsibility for Olympic Legacy, has been a victim of the swing towards the Tories.

I don't think there will be too many people working on the Olympics legacy who will think this is going to have a huge impact however.

Malik took on the role in June 2009 but has been singularly silent on Olympics and legacy given the titular significance at least of the job. My only memory of his tenure is of him turning up to speak about the Olympics legacy at the Thames Gateway Forum and appearing to be taking continual briefings from Joe Montgomery at CLG every time a vaguely detailed question was asked. That said he may have been extremely involved behind the scenes - please do put me straight if he was.
