Lord Edward Davenport's pole-dancing lessons halted

poledance.jpgSeems that things can only go from bad to worse for jailed multi-millionaire entrepreneur Lord Edward Davenport.

Just before Christmas Davenport, 43, was charged with £12m of fraud offences and remanded in custody until 2 February, when he will submit his plea.

And yesterday, Westminster City Council won an interim injunction to stop Davenport or "persons unknown" from holding any further tango or pole-dancing lessons, parties, photoshoots, filming or any other commercial activities at his £30m Mayfair home at 33 Portland Place, W1.

Westminster argued that the property only had permission for residential use and that commercial activities at the premises had to stop immediately.

Protests by Davenport's lawyers that he was someone who "is down on his luck", should be allowed to commercially exploit his property, and that he had only been able to give 5 minutes of instructions to counsel before lights out in prison failed to sway Judge Richard Seymour QC.

The judge said "given the extensive history of Mr Davenport's successful attempts to exploit his ownership of 33 Portland Place in relation to making money commercially it is appropriate to acceded to Westminster Council's application and grant the interim injunction."
