We’ve put together the answers to potential questions you may have regarding the new app and your EG subscription.

Q. How do I access daily and breaking news?

On iPad:

To access daily and breaking news on your iPad, tap the library icon in the top left of the Home screen and then tap Latest News as shown in the screenshot below.

You will then see a screen similar to the below:

Tap on any of the articles to access them.

On iPhone:

To access daily and breaking news on your iPhone, tap the library icon in the top left of the Home screen and then tap Latest News as shown in the screenshot below.

You will then see a screen similar to the below:

Tap on any of the articles to access them.

On Android devices:

To access daily and breaking news on your Android device, tap the list icon in the top left of the Home screen and then tap Latest News.

The first time you access the Latest News area of the app you will see the Latest News cover as shown in the screen below. Tap on the Download button.

You will then see the Latest News part of the app.

Tap on any of the articles to access them.

Q. How is EG delivered?

EG magazine is delivered in 3 ways.

  • Print magazine is delivered by the postal service
  • New app – Now available on your mobile or tablet, on Android and Apple, weekly issues and more published every Friday morning
  • Digital version, a digital version of the magazine is delivered by email on the Friday before the cover date.

Q. About the new App

The new EG app is free to download and contains both free and paid for content. To receive the weekly editions of EG you must have an active subscription to the magazine.

Each issue of EG is available to download every Friday, a day before it is available in print.

Q. Is the app free to download?

Yes, the app is free to download but you must have either an active "Print & Digital" or "Digital" EG magazine subscription to download the paid-for content. If you aren’t yet a subscriber you can click here to subscribe.

Q. I’m a subscriber. How do I log in to the app?

If you are a "Digital" or "Print and Digital" subscriber you are entitled to access the full content of the app. You can get full access by logging in within the app.

When you open the app, if you see that an issue has a price written on the cover then you will need to log in to the app to read that content.

Follow 3 simple steps:

  • Launch the app
  • Tap on the cover that says "ALREADY A SUBSCRIBER? LOG IN HERE" (iPhone users will need to scroll down to see the cover)
  • Enter your e-mail address and subscriber number on the next screen. Tap "Log in". Please note that your subscriber number is e-mailed to you each week.
  • Go back to the main library screen where you can "Download" the issue.

Q. Forgotten your login credentials?

  • Your username is the email address you used when you purchased your subscription.
  • Your password is the web order reference number, (detailed on the thank you/confirmation email you received immediately after placing your order) or your subscriber number (detailed on any correspondence from us).

Q. I’m an existing EG app user. Why do I now have two EG apps on my iPad?

Many app users have downloaded the weekly issue of the EG magazine on their iPad since the first EG app launched a few years ago. In order to preserve those downloaded issues so that you can continue to access them, we had to implement the current solution where you have two apps on your iPad device. All future issues will be published on the new app while the old app will continue to hold that back issues that you downloaded already.

If you do not wish to maintain the old app and those downloaded issues, you may delete the old app from your device. We wanted to give you that option rather than automatically delete those back issues from your app

Q. I like the look and feel of the magazine. Is there a digital PDF version of the magazine available?

Yes. As a "Print & Digital" or "Digital" subscriber you can continue to access a digital PDF version of the magazine. We will e-mail you a link to the weekly issue every Friday. That e-mail will be sent from the "EG Digital Editions" e-mail address.

Q. I already subscribe to the print edition of EG, how do I subscribe to the app?

You can swap from a Print subscription to a Digital subscription for no extra charge or you can upgrade to Print & Digital for an small additional charge.

Follow 3 simple steps:

  • Go to ‘My Account’
  • Log in with your subscriber number and email address – Your subscriber number is quoted on any correspondence from us or on the address label on your magazine. If your email address is not registered with us please contact Customer Services
  • Once you are logged in go to the ‘Change how my issues are delivered’ page.

Q. How do I download each issue?

Each issue will be available to download on your smartphone and/or tablet every Friday morning, a day before it is available in print. Open the app and tap on the most recent issue or whatever issue you wish to download in order to start the download process.

Please note that the app is free but you must have an active to download the weekly magazine issues.

Q. How do I delete issues that I have already downloaded?

If you have finished reading an issue and would like to delete it from your device you can do so by following these steps:

  • Tap on the cover of the issue that you would like to delete.
  • Tap on the "||||" icon which you can see in the top tool bar. (Seen here in the red circle).
  • Tap on the blue "Archive" button.
  • You will see the following confirmation box.
  • Tap on “Archive”
  • The content for that issue will be removed from your device.
  • You can always download the issue at a later date by tapping on the cover on the app library screen.

Q. How to increase the font size?

If you would like to increase the font size on iPhone then you can follow these steps:

Tap on the list icon on the top left of the library screen. Then choose "Settings" and "General". You should see the words "Text Size". There are three font size options. Tap any of the three to suit your needs. When you open the issue then you should see that the font size has increased.

If you would like to increase the font size on iPad or Android devices then you can follow these steps:

Q. What devices does it work on?

The app is currently available for iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones and tablets.

Q. Can I use the app offline?

Yes. Once an issue is downloaded it’s available to read offline. Please be aware that unless you are connected to the internet, the links within the issue will not work.

Q. Problems with links and downloads?

Double check you have an active internet connection and ensure you have the latest operating system installed; this could affect the performance of your device.

Q. Keeping back issues

All back issues since the start of your subscription will be saved within the app on your device. Back issues prior to the 31 October 2015 issue can be found on the old EG app.

Q. EG new issue does not appear – what to do?

  • Check your subscription is active and has not lapsed. (When logged into ‘My Account’ you will be able to see your subscription expiry date).
  • Connect to an alternative WiFi network
  • If possible, connect to a 4G network

Q. Issue appears but does not download

Once you commence the download, if the download progress bar does not begin, this is tied to the date and time on your device. Please correct the date and time on your device and close the app in multi-tasking. Please then re-launch the app and try to re-download the issue.

Q. When will I receive my first issue?

For Print please allow up to 28 days, depending on your location to receive your first issue.

For Digital (digital edition and the app) access is instant when you buy online.

Q. What is the difference between the app, digital and print versions?

When you subscribe to the app, your weekly issue of EG will be available to download and view on your iPhone, iPad, Android smartphone and tablet via the EG app every Friday, 24 hours before it’s available in print.

When you subscribe to Digital you will receive an email every Friday morning with a link to the latest issue of EG to read on your desktop or laptop computer.

When you subscribe to Print, your weekly issue of EG will be delivered by the postal service, arriving with you each Saturday (UK subscribers)

Q. How do I renew my subscription?

Log in to My Account with your subscriber number and the email address associated with your subscription account. Select Renew from the menu bar to renew your subscription. For help contact Customer Services.

Q. How do I activate my digital subscription?

Getting access to your weekly digital edition is easy.

Once you have successfully subscribed we will send you your login credentials which enables you to access the EG digital edition. We will then send you an email with a link to the digital edition every Friday.

Q. How to upgrade your subscription to include more than one delivery type?

(ie. Upgrade to Print & Digital) call customer services on +44 (0) 1444 475 681. To remove a delivery type from your subscription (ie. reduce the ways you receive your subscription) call customer services on +44 (0) 1444 475 681.

Q. Who do I contact if my issue does not arrive?

For Print – If your magazine is not delivered it is possible to claim a replacement for the current issue or request an extension to your subscription. Unfortunately it is not possible to claim for issues other than the current issue. Log in to My Account with your subscriber number and the email address associated with your subscription account. Select ‘Missing Issue’ from the menu bar. For help contact Customer Services on +44 (0) 1444 475 681.

For Digital – There is an archive section that includes issues going back to 2012. Click here to access the digital edition and log in with your email address and subscriber number.

For the app – All magazine editions within your subscription period are downloaded to the EG app on your device. Launch the app and locate the issue you want to read. If the issue does not appear go to My Account and check your subscription is active and has not lapsed. Make sure your device is connected to a WiFi network or if possible to a cellular network. Q. I receive my copy of EG as part of a company subscription, how do I swap or upgrade?

Please contact the person responsible for managing the subscription at your company. All changes made to company/bulk subscriptions need to be arranged with our customer service key accounts team who you can by emailing rbi.keyaccounts@quadrantsubs.com.

Q. I purchased my subscription through an agent, how do I swap/upgrade/cancel my subscription?

If you want to swap your print subscription to digital or tablet or if you want to upgrade to a bundle package you will have to cancel the subscription you have through your agent and begin a new subscription with EG. If you want to cancel your subscription you will have to do so through your agent.
